We are witnessing a persistent and alarming pattern: citizens of Turkmenistan living abroad are increasingly subjected to pressure, persecution, forced deportation, and even disappearance. These actions are systematic in nature and extend beyond national borders, becoming a tool of transnational repression. Particularly concerning are cases in which individuals disappear after leaving deportation centers or are forcibly returned to a country where they may face persecution. Such actions contradict fundamental principles of international law, including the principle of non-refoulement, and violate basic human rights — the right to life, liberty, and personal security. Behind every name is a family waiting. Children who do not understand where their parents are. Loved ones left without answers. How many more victims must there be before the international community responds? How many more families must endure fear, pain, and uncertainty? How many more human rights defenders and activists must live under constant threat of abduction, deportation, or enforced disappearance? The Human Rights Platform of the Civic Movement “Dayanç” calls on international organizations, democratic governments, and human rights institutions to: urgently pay attention to these ongoing violations; ensure protection for Turkmen activists and citizens abroad; prevent further cases of forced deportation and disappearance; conduct independent and transparent investigations into reported cases; hold those responsible accountable. Today, the question becomes more urgent than ever: Who is next? And without a timely response, this list will, tragically, continue to grow.
