Turkmen Citizens Lead Labor Migration to Belarus | New NEXTA+ Episode The new NEXTA+ episode is dedicated to one of the most painful issues facing Turkmenistan today — the mass labor migration of its citizens to Belarus and other countries in search of work and income. In the program, we commented on why citizens of one of the world’s richest gas-producing countries are forced to leave their families and go abroad for difficult labor jobs. Despite the country’s enormous natural resources, thousands of Turkmen citizens face unemployment, low wages, economic hardship, and a lack of opportunities at home. Today, citizens of Turkmenistan are among the leading groups of labor migrants in Belarus. People work in factories, construction, agriculture, and the service sector, trying to support their families and survive amid economic difficulties. Many are afraid to speak openly about the real reasons for leaving because of pressure and fear of consequences. The episode also addresses: — mass migration of young people; — lack of jobs and economic opportunities; — the growing social crisis; — families becoming dependent on income earned abroad; — problems related to documents and the rights of labor migrants.
