🇺🇸 SOLO PROTEST HELD IN THE HEART OF NEW YORK CITY AGAINST VIOLENCE TOWARDS WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN TURKMENISTAN! Prominent blogger, civil activist, and public figure Talyp Abbasov held a solo protest in the heart of New York City, distributing informational leaflets and drawing international attention to the issue of impunity for violence against women and children in Turkmenistan. Among the most high-profile cases are those of Jeren Altyyeva and Guljemal Jumamuradova! These tragic cases raise serious concerns about the protection of women and children, judicial independence, and victims' access to justice. Particularly alarming is the case of Jeren Altyyeva and her 12-year-old daughter, Ogulnur Pelvanova, who, according to reports received by human rights defenders, have both been subjected to violence. On October 16, 2026, Jeren was forcibly taken away by security officers. The circumstances of her detention and her subsequent fate require an urgent, independent investigation. The case of Guljemal Jumamuradova has also become one of the most widely discussed cases, sparking public outrage and raising serious questions about the ability of state institutions to provide protection and ensure justice. The central message of the protest is clear: WHEN THE JUDICIARY IS CONTROLLED BY THOSE IN POWER, VICTIMS MAY BE LEFT WITHOUT PROTECTION WHILE ALLEGED PERPETRATORS ESCAPE ACCOUNTABILITY! According to human rights defenders, political connections, influence, and financial resources may play a decisive role in determining whether perpetrators are held accountable. What happens to a country when women and children cannot obtain justice? How can the international community continue cooperating with the authorities of Turkmenistan without making human rights protection, judicial independence, and accountability for violence essential conditions of dialogue? The Human Rights Platform of the DAYANÇ Civil Movement / Turkmenistan calls upon international organizations, democratic governments, and Turkmenistan's international partners to: - Stop turning a blind eye to reports of systematic and serious human rights violations. - Demand independent investigations into cases of violence against women and children, including those involving Jeren Altyyeva and Guljemal Jumamuradova. - Ensure effective protection for victims and accountability for perpetrators, regardless of their official positions, political connections, or social status. - Reconsider the terms of cooperation with the Turkmen authorities and place respect for human rights at the center of all international negotiations. VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN IS A GRAVE VIOLATION OF HUMAN DIGNITY AND FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS! The absence of effective protection and access to justice further deepens victims' suffering and creates conditions in which impunity can continue. International cooperation must not become a means of legitimizing repression, covering up human rights violations, or enabling impunity. NO COOPERATION TALKS WITHOUT HUMAN RIGHTS ON THE AGENDA! NO IMPUNITY FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN! JUSTICE MUST PROTECT VICTIMS, NOT THE POWERFUL AND WELL-CONNECTED! 📢 Watch Talyp Abbasov's solo protest in New York City: https://youtube.com/shorts/N5Emnb12nB0?is=6Pu0JMc3550P98Lu HUMAN RIGHTS PLATFORM OF THE DAYANÇ CIVIL MOVEMENT / TURKMENISTAN 🌐 dayanchcivil.com #Turkmenistan #HumanRights #JusticeForWomen #ProtectChildren #EndImpunity #JudicialIndependence #DAYANC #NewYork #StopViolence #HumanRightsDefenders
