One Year of Uncertainty. One Year of Waiting. One Year Without Justice. 24 July 2026 marks one year since the disappearance of Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov, citizens of Turkmenistan, following their detention at the Edirne Removal Center in Türkiye. Over the past year, their families, lawyers, and human rights defenders have never stopped searching for answers. Numerous complaints and petitions have been submitted to law enforcement authorities, prosecutors, courts, state institutions, and international organizations. Yet, one year later, the central question remains unanswered: Where are Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov? According to the established chronology of events, after Alisher Sakhatov's last telephone conversation with his wife on the evening of 24 July 2025, all contact with both men was lost. It was later stated that they had allegedly been released, yet they have not been seen since, and their whereabouts remain unknown to this day. Particularly alarming are the circumstances surrounding the investigation. For many months, lawyers repeatedly requested access to surveillance camera recordings that could have been crucial in establishing the last known movements of the two men. However, the official request was submitted only after a significant delay, and the authorities later responded that the recordings had already been deleted because the retention period had expired. As a result, one of the key pieces of potential evidence was lost. An entire year has passed. A year of waiting. A year of pain. A year of unanswered questions for families still searching for the truth. Behind every such case are not only documents and legal procedures. Behind them are people. Families who continue to wait. Children who continue to hope that their fathers will return. Loved ones who live every day with uncertainty. On the first anniversary of their disappearance, the Human Rights Platform of the Dayanch Civil Movement / Turkmenistan is launching a peaceful international awareness campaign under the common slogan: "We Want Only Justice." Our demands are clear: - to establish the fate and whereabouts of the disappeared; - to conduct an independent, effective, and transparent investigation; - to ensure a comprehensive examination of all the circumstances surrounding their disappearance; - to provide their families with the answers they have been waiting for over the past year; - to uphold international human rights obligations. As part of this campaign, documentary videos, photographs, and public appeals dedicated to the anniversary of the disappearance of Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov will be published. Official appeals will also be sent to diplomatic missions located in Türkiye, as well as to Turkish diplomatic missions around the world, calling for continued attention to this case and support for an effective investigation. We appeal to the diplomatic community, international organizations, human rights institutions, the media, and everyone who believes in the protection of human rights. Today, this is not only about the fate of two missing men. It is about every family's right to know the truth. It is about confidence in justice and the rule of law. On the anniversary of their disappearance, we once again repeat our message: We Want Only Justice. Until the fate of Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov is established, this case remains unresolved. And we will continue our efforts to seek the truth until their families finally receive the answers they deserve.
