Doctors Save 16-Year-Old Girl in Critical Condition in Garagum District Doctors at the district hospital in Garagum District, Mary Region, have saved the life of a 16-year-old girl who was admitted in critical condition with severe uterine bleeding. According to Turkmen.news, the patient was suffering from hemorrhagic shock, with a hemoglobin level of just 28 g/L, placing her life in immediate danger. Due to the lack of specialized doctors and modern medical equipment, transferring the patient to the regional center was considered too risky. The chief physician of the Garagum District Hospital decided to keep the girl at the local hospital and begin intensive treatment. Over the next 48 hours, the medical team provided blood transfusions, hemostatic therapy, and continuous monitoring. The treatment was successful. The bleeding was stopped without surgery, and the girl's condition stabilized. At the same time, the case has once again highlighted the systemic challenges facing Turkmenistan's healthcare system. Despite the professionalism and dedication of local medical staff, many district hospitals continue to face shortages of modern intensive care equipment, ventilators, laboratory supplies, and specialized medical personnel. According to the publication, while state-of-the-art medical centers have been built in Ashgabat and Arkadag, healthcare facilities in the regions often operate with limited resources. This case demonstrates that highly skilled doctors are often able to save lives not because the healthcare system provides them with the necessary resources, but despite its shortcomings.
