Citizens’ Priorities and Public Participation in Government Decisions

The Human Rights Platform of the Civic Movement “DAYANÇ / Turkmenistan” invites citizens of Turkmenistan to participate in a new public survey. While large sums are being allocated to luxury projects such as golf clubs and tourist complexes, thousands of people continue to face shortages of drinking water, disruptions in electricity and gas supply, deteriorating infrastructure, and the absence of basic living conditions. The goal of this survey is to document citizens’ real priorities and to determine whether authorities should consult the public before implementing large and costly projects. The survey is anonymous. Its results will be used in human rights reports, appeals to international institutions, and public advocacy efforts. The voice of the people matters.
