CHRONOLOGY OF THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALISHER SAKHATOV AND ABDULLA ORUSOV 28 April 2025 🚨 Detention Turkmen citizens Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov were detained in the city of Sinop, Türkiye. They were assigned the G-82 restriction code, and deportation proceedings were initiated against them. April – May 2025 🚔 Transfers Between Removal Centers The two men were first transferred to the Akyurt Removal Center in Ankara. Later: Alisher Sakhatov was transferred to the Edirne Removal Center; Abdulla Orusov was transferred to the Pehlivanköy Removal Center. They were subsequently held together again at the Edirne Removal Center. During Their Detention ⚠️ References to MIT According to Abdulla Orusov, staff members at the removal center repeatedly told him: > "MIT officers will come and speak with you." Spring – Summer 2025 📢 Human Rights Activities According to their lawyers: their human rights activities were monitored; their social media accounts were repeatedly blocked; attempts were made to restrict the dissemination of information about their work. 24 July 2025 📞 Last Telephone Call At approximately 7:58 p.m., Alisher Sakhatov spoke with his wife, Gullala Hasanova, for the last time. After that conversation, all communication ceased. Evening of 24 July 2025 ❓ Alleged Release The administration of the removal center stated that both men had allegedly been released. They have not been seen since. 25 July 2025 ⚠️ The First Contradictions Other detainees informed the family that the two men had allegedly been taken away. Information emerged suggesting that they had been transferred to Aydın Province. However, the authorities in Aydın later confirmed that they had never arrived there. July 2025 📍 Contradictory Information Lawyers were initially informed that the men had been transferred to Sinop. It was later established that this information was false. A different version was then presented, claiming that the men had been released. Following Their Disappearance 📄 The Search for the Missing Men Begins The following legal actions were undertaken: missing persons reports were filed; complaints were submitted to prosecutors; applications were filed with the police; legal petitions were submitted by lawyers; complaints were lodged with the Constitutional Court of Türkiye. Autumn 2025 👩‍👧 The Family's Search for Answers Gullala Hasanova personally appealed to: the Ministry of Interior of Türkiye; the Directorate of Migration Management; the Embassy of Turkmenistan. However, she received no information regarding her husband's whereabouts. October 2025 ⚖️ Court Proceedings Following a court hearing, no new information regarding the fate or whereabouts of the two men was provided. For Many Months 📹 Surveillance Footage The lawyers repeatedly requested access to surveillance camera recordings from the removal center. However, the requested materials were not provided. Approximately 8.5 Months Later ⚠️ The Request Came Too Late Only about eight and a half months later did the prosecutor's office officially request the surveillance footage. The administration of the removal center responded that: > Surveillance recordings are retained for only six months and had already been deleted. As a result, one of the most significant potential pieces of evidence was lost. December 2025 📂 Another False Lead Authorities claimed that Alisher Sakhatov had allegedly been seen in Samsun. It was later established that this information referred to outdated records from a period before his disappearance. During the Independent Documentation of the Case ✈️ New Information The Human Rights Platform of the Dayanch Civil Movement / Turkmenistan received information requiring independent verification indicating that the two men may have been transported to Turkmenistan aboard a cargo aircraft. The organization has also obtained witness testimonies describing the alleged mechanisms of transnational repression against Turkmen citizens. These materials are available for submission to international organizations and competent authorities upon official request. 24 July 2026 One Year of Uncertainty 📍 The whereabouts of Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov remain unknown. 📍 Their families have received no official answers. 📍 No effective investigation has been carried out. 📍 Five children continue to wait for their fathers.
