According to information received, Mesgen Akmammedov, who has been accused of sexual violence, is the nephew of Gulshat Mammedova, the mayor (hyakim) of Arkadag, and is allegedly connected to the influential Ishadov clan, which reportedly has ties to Turkmenistan's power structures. This raises a crucial question: Are these connections being used to protect the alleged perpetrator and persecute the victims? Instead of ensuring the safety of the woman and her underage daughter, reports indicate that the victims themselves are being subjected to intimidation and pressure.
