Is Türkiye a State Governed by the Rule of Law — or a Silent Accomplice? Where Are Alisher Sahatov and Abdulla Orusov?

I address the Government of Türkiye. For more than five months, Turkmen civil activists Alisher Sahatov and Abdulla Orusov have been considered missing. These two people were abducted on Turkish territory while under Türkiye’s responsibility. This is no longer an assumption — it is an established fact. We are no longer asking. We are no longer demanding. We are outraged. Because this is not only about the fate of two activists. This is about whether Türkiye is truly a state governed by the rule of law. It is well known that these two activists were illegally removed from Türkiye through a so-called “diplomatic corridor,” forcibly transferred to Turkmenistan, and today are imprisoned and subjected to torture. Turkmenistan is not a state governed by law. Turkmenistan is a criminal regime. Abductions, torture, and enforced disappearances are systematic methods of this regime. Türkiye must not become an accomplice to these crimes. It must not be part of this dirty game. These people were under protection in Türkiye. Therefore, responsibility also lies with Türkiye. Today we openly address the Government of Türkiye: — Ensure the immediate return of these two Turkmen activists. — If their stay in Türkiye is not desired, you are obliged to send them to a third, safe country. — Handing people over to a dictatorship where torture is practiced is unacceptable both legally and morally. We will not step back. We will not remain silent. We will continue our struggle until these two people return to Türkiye or to a safe country. Türkiye is a democratic country. The Turkish people stand on the side of justice. Please, do not make Türkiye an accomplice to the sins of the criminal regime in Turkmenistan. This is a call. This is a warning. This is a reminder in the name of human dignity. Lala Abdirahmanova
